My Second Foray Into Fiction – BELOW THE WHEEL

I published this back in 2021.

From best-selling author, Charles Wiedenmann, comes his latest thriller, Below the Wheel!

Alex Hunter and Scott Appel are former investment brokers turned private investigators in Camden, New Jersey. They spend their days investigating disability claims for insurance companies and law firms. Occasionally, they perform surveillance on errant spouses and even solve a crime now and then. But Alex and Scott aren’t taken seriously by local law enforcement.

During an unbearable heatwave in the summer of 1998, the boys are caught up in a bizarre case. The Camden Strangler, as the media call him, has been murdering prostitutes in the area.

A mysterious young woman who’s connected to the latest victim turns to Alex and Scott for help.

They take the case but risk getting pulled into the madness and depravity of what’s happening on the mean streets of Camden. Who is committing these heinous crimes? Is it somehow connected to the elite secret social club located somewhere in town?

Below the Wheel is a mesmerizing, stay-up-all-night and tell-all-your-friends triumph. A hard-boiled mystery that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of obsession, survival, and terrifying events that will leave you speechless by the final page.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Summer-Read for Mystery Lovers or Anyone Who Has Ever Lived in South Jersey/Philadelphia

Reviewed in the United States on May 13, 2023

I judge a good summer read as a book I don’t want to put down, that reads easy and keeps me interested. I’d definitely put Below the Wheel in this category. The main characters are all likable and multidimensional while being very relatable. The story keeps moving and keeps you guessing. As a Philly native, I especially enjoyed the familiar landmarks of Philadelphia and South Jersey becoming characters in their own right and I couldn’t help but wonder which local celebs inspired some of the characters. I appreciate the author’s ability to move the story along and paint a picture of this familiar world in a new and captivating way that held my attention throughout the length of the story. I look forward to packing more of this author’s fiction in my beach bag in the future!
