Star Wars Is Cool Again

Star Wars has always been a love of mine. Since it came out in 1977, I’ve been a fan. It was such a huge part of my teenage life just like the band, Aerosmith. We loved Star Wars and everything about the whole mythology for years. But then something occurred in the 90s. George Lucas … Continue reading “Star Wars Is Cool Again”

Star Wars

Philadelphia, PA – Spring 1977 I remember seeing the trailer for it on TV and my friends and I got really excited about how cool it looked. I was 14 years old and my dad said he would take me to see it. He was working at a bank down the shore back then and … Continue reading “Star Wars”

My Young Life: Star Wars – 1977

He was working at a bank down the shore back then and my sisters and I lived … Continue reading “My Young Life: Star Wars – 1977”

Johnny R. – Needle in the Groove – Part 2

I remember in the past we used to call the Gold club “The Death Star.” Johnny and I would be out at happy hour and we’d be walking around trying to figure out where to go next. After a few rounds we could start to feel the pull of the club. It was like a tractor beam that would just start pulling our little drunken rebel alliance feet over towards 15th and Chancellor. If you know anything about Star Wars, that’s what the Death Star did to the Millennium Falcon.

A Trip to the Shore – Part 3

Wildwood, New Jersey – 2021 Saturday After witnessing the sunrise, which was glorious and elegant in its simplicity, I went to Russo’s market for breakfast. The business has been there since 1972. Having a little market/deli/sundries shop a block from our shore house was great. It’s one of the few things left in this town … Continue reading “A Trip to the Shore – Part 3”

BELOW THE WHEEL – The Artist, The Artwork and The Marketing

Pictured: Kellie Stiles – Artist When I published Angel with a Broken Wing last summer, I needed a cover for the book. I thought long and hard about what the image should be. I thought about the leading female character Jill standing in the desert in Palm Springs with Christian. There was that moment before … Continue reading “BELOW THE WHEEL – The Artist, The Artwork and The Marketing”

Tales of Rock – Rock Out To Disneyland (Short-Lived) Sexy Prog-Rock Band

The year was 1981. Bette Davis Eyes was topping the charts, and poppy synths dominated every retro jukebox in the nation. Like sand trickling down a Buick’s grease stain, time had run out for the dirty delight that was ’70s rock and roll. But there was one place left in America where guitar riffs could blow your … Continue reading “Tales of Rock – Rock Out To Disneyland (Short-Lived) Sexy Prog-Rock Band”

Angel with a Broken Wing – Chapter 3

My new book, Below the Wheel, drops on June 22. Here’s a little taste from last year’s novel, Angel with a Broken Wing.   THREE The next morning, Christian stood in his kitchen looking out at the snow as he ground some beans for coffee. He dumped the grounds into the coffee machine and turned … Continue reading “Angel with a Broken Wing – Chapter 3”
